There is little point in going around exhibiting your spiritual gifts if you fundamentally lack the one thing that really matters – love. Paul drives home this point with enormous clarity in his nonpareil treatise on the subject. Prophecy, faith, sacrifice, tongues – all are shown to be secondary and of little consequence in the absence of love.
I don’t know if you see the indirect lesson crying out for attention. It is possible to be a spiritual gift impresario without demonstrating in life the very first aspect of the fruit of the spirit – love.
God is love!
