Ecce Homo
The Roman governor Pilate’s profile that emerges from the manner in which he handled the trial of Jesus, is pathetic. He was convinced that Jesus was not guilty but he sadly lacked the courage of his conviction. His conscience aided by his wife’s, was scoring goal after goal even as he kept deliberately shifting the goalpost to please the crowd. It is during these shambolic proceedings that he announced “Ecce Homo”.
These were words prompted by a confused combination of mockery, recognition and fear. As such it was doubtful if he fathomed the depth of their meaning.
Yes, we needn’t look beyond Jesus!
