Enjoy the Sabbath!

During my growing up years in a conservative Christian home and community, Sunday was reserved for ostensible piety. The day revolved around Church, Sunday School, Bible verse memorization and the like. No “I spy”, no marbles or tops, no “gilli thanda”, no cricket; in other words no fun and games. Generally speaking, it was a dull day.

But what does the Bible say? Don’t pursue your own interests on that day. But enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.

“This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it”!
