Bravo, Shiphrah and Puah!
It takes guts to defy Pharoah! But Shiphrah and Puah feared a higher authority and they displayed courage of their conviction that God is supreme. How often we bow to the visible earthly powers even when they run counter to God’s commands because we fear man more than God. We tell ourselves that God will understand our predicament; we can always go to Him in prayer in piteous supplication.
God being merciful and aware of our human frailty does understand and pardon our iniquity. But we might miss out on the blessing.
Remember Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They stood firm!
