Thy will be done!

One of the stories in the Bible that vividly illustrates the clash of man’s will and God’s will is the story of Jonah. Jonah has no intention whatsoever of following God’s will concerning his life and ministry, for a very good reason as he reveals later. And ironically, God lets him have his way! You want to go to Joppa? Fine. You are looking for a vessel that will take you right opposite to where I wanted you to go? There, there is the ship going to Tarshish. Is there room in it? Yes, there is. And the money to pay for the ticket? No problem.

Jonah was lulled into thinking that God had changed His mind and was now for some reason, favouring his own schemes. Well, that was before God “sent a great wind on the sea”. The Tamil Bible puts it beautifully in the passive!

Say “hello” to God’s will!
