Are all prayers heard?

Very often we run away with the notion that God is an avuncular figure. He smiles indulgently at every atrocious thing we do and never fails to give us our much coveted birthday and Christmas presents if only we say”please”, with nary a thought about mending our wicked ways! If that is your line of thinking, you have another think coming. Just listen to God speaking through Isaiah:” When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers,  I am not listening”

This really seems to be an echo of the blunt warning we hear from the writer of the Proverbs about prayers emanating from unworthy souls.

“Cease to do evil”
