Savor your exploits but tarry at home!

The good king Amaziah of Judah got carried away. Fresh from his conquest of Edom, he thought himself the smartest king on two legs, the world conqueror; and he exalted himself to the seventh heaven and looked down gratuitously at Israel. Puffed up with pride, he made the mistake of provoking king Jehoash who gave him a fitting reply both verbally and militarily.

Thus instead of staying at home and enjoying the spoils of war, poor Amaziah ended up as a prisoner in Samaria.

Let sleeping dogs lie!

  1. Thanks Judah,
That was one of my readings yesterday.
How marvellously He reminds us of His Presence.
