Hi Dad, where’s the sacrifice?

Much has been made of patriarch Abraham’s unquestioning obedience to God when asked to do the seemingly cruel and patently unreasonable; rightly so, for Abraham was indeed willing to sacrifice his son, the only apparent nail by which hung the glorious promises of God. The Bible says he believed God was able to make his son come back alive! Tremendous faith indeed!

But spare a thought for Isaac. He was laid on the altar willy-nilly. He was more or less taken for granted. And the Bible throws little light on his feelings and reactions.

Oh, the silences in the Scriptures are pregnant with lessons!
