Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice,  go ahead – save 30 seconds!

Right direction, wrong route !

The children of Israel must take the cake for making a mountain out of a mole hill. Can you believe it – a journey that should have taken no more than 11 days actually took them over 1300 times as many days, i.e. around 14600 days? For all that they were headed in the right direction! What was the problem then? Basically disbelief. Psalm 95 puts it like this:” For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,  and they have not known my ways.’”

It is quite possible that in the intoxication and ferment of the moment of a dramatic delivery from a back-breaking bondage lasting centuries, we start well. We follow the leader who is guided by God Himself. But soon, our self starts to assert itself, questions arise in our minds, the leader is challenged, we start going zig-zag and even wonder if we should turn back!

” In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight“.
