A bad marriage!

There is plenty of advice in the Bible about “a suitable girl”*. Proverbs 31 in particular, elaborates the characteristics of a virtuous woman, and details the manner in which she takes care of her husband and children. Then there are real life examples of women who readily left their home and hearth and cast their lot completely with their husbands’s household – Rebecca and Ruth, for example. They were instrumental in bringing about a godly lineage.

On the other hand there were people like Ahab, who added to their terrible resume by marrying women who were ‘terribler’. The way the Bible describes this marriage, makes it clear that Ahab well knew the background and character of Jezebel.

How much is your wife worth?
