Day 240*: Gimme, gimme, gimme!

Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice,  go ahead – save 30 seconds!

Gimme, gimme, gimme!

The observations of Agur are well worth observing: ‘The leech has two daughters. “Give! Give!” they cry. ‘There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, “Enough!”: the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, which never says, “Enough!” ‘ You’d expect king Solomon with his 1000 women, to know a thing or two on the subject. And disappoint, he does not. “Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes”, he writes, rather obliquely alluding to his passion!

Then there are people who go on amassing wealth, by all means – good and bad. Be warned: God does not overlook sinful greed.

I say, enough is enough!
