He,he,he…thanks Sarai
As we have seen before (Fourth Page in my Jottings, https://judahsjottings.com/) Father Abraham flunked his first test. Here we see him failing for the second time. He does this without much deep thinking and the consequences are terrible for all time to come. Such is the nature of sexual relationship outside marriage. Sarai his wife, frustrated over her childless status, suggests to Abram that he sleep with her maid Hagar with the hope of producing children; and Abram agreed to Sarai’s proposal. No protest is recorded.
Abram should have known better. The Lord had already told him he would have a son of his own and that he should not look to his servant as his heir. Yet, he seems to have been swayed easily at the prospect of sex with another woman (with a guilt-free pass from his wife!).
Stand on the promises of God!
