  (credit: Varsha Salome)

Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice,  go ahead – save 30 seconds!

What really counts

It is good to remind ourselves that the appeal of the cross is not esoteric, but universal. Probably the most quoted verse in the Bible, i.e, John 3:16 puts it simply and convincingly: ” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This makes it abundantly clear that “whosoever”is a subset of the population “world”. There is no mention of religion, race, caste, creed or colour.

Paul, who took the gospel to the gentiles (as opposed to the Jews) emphasized this truth, something that is not so well understood in today’s polarized, plural world.

You can be anybody!
