The audacity of faith
This takes some guts! Bad enough standing for God as a single man opposite no fewer than eight hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and Asherah. Elijah is making things difficult for himself – and for God – by asking for water to be poured on the sacrifice, not once but three times. We read that the ” the water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench”.
Then he calls upon the Lord and says “answer me” twice; there is no frenzy or agitation in his simple prayer; just a plea for God to” let it be known today that you are God in Israel”. The Lord glorified His name.
How strong is your faith?
