God’s brinkmanship?

Quite often when we are in trouble and look to the Lord for help, He doesn’t come through immediately. He hears our prayer of course but the answer seems to be ‘not yet’. We are perplexed and driven to despair before the ray of hope appears. When God operates that way, He does it for our good; in order to strengthen our faith and make us cling to Him. David must have been despondent when Saul and his army were closing in on him from the other side of the mountain in the wilderness of Maon.

Just in the nick of time, deliverance! Note the all-important ‘but’, at the beginning of verse 27 (NKJV).

Can you hang in there? God is on the way!
