Sin today, Sacrifice tomorrow!
Some folks are under the mistaken impression that we can wipe out the effect of our sin by offering sacrifices to appease God. It appears that Eli and his sons were labouring under this particular misconception. But in his message to Samuel the Lord puts paid to this notion. So don’t get the idea that you can buy pardon by sacrifice. Just as money can’t buy you love, money can’t buy you forgiveness either. God is not in the business of selling forgiveness!
We have to thank king David for giving us the formula that pleases the Lord – a broken heart and a contrite sprit.
Repentance is the first step towards forgiveness.
