A Sudden Amnesia, Asa?

It is good to observe anniversaries, New Year’s Day, most certainly! They help you recall how God stood by you in times past – His provision, His protection, the victories He won for you or maybe even the peace He granted in times of disappointment. They bolster your confidence in Him and firm up your faith. Something Asa forgot to do when the king of Israel rose against him. He ended up sending gold and silver to Benhadad of Syria (Aram); and recalled a defunct treaty between them, instead of renewing the covenant relationship with God.

And he was duly reprimanded by the seer Hanani. But the guy who ran well for thirty six years of his reign suddenly goes berserk and shoots the messenger. He does not look to the Lord even when afflicted by disease. Hmmm…. sad.

May we stand firm till the end. It is important to finish well.
