The unwelcome Word!
Contrary to what the sooth-sayers would have us believe, the Word from God isn’t always comforting. Nor is it genie-like, awaiting our beck and call, offering to fulfill our fanciest dreams – from an electric blue BMW to an upmarket beach front villa. No Sir, it doesn’t tousle our hair or tell us bed-time stories a la Alexa and pat us to sleep at night with a soulful rendition of “Abide with me”!
Sometimes it disturbs us. Awakens us. Tells us to get out of our comfort zone, go preach in Nineveh, a city we’d much rather avoid!
Do we welcome the Word howsoever inconvenient the message?
