Stop praying Church!
The title is certainly at odds with Paul’s injunction to pray without ceasing, but without prejudice to that exhortation I submit that there are times at which we need to pause or even stop praying and instead start looking for answers – specially when we are praying with a single point agenda. A case in point is the prayer meeting in Mary’s house, held for the express purpose of pleading with God for the release of Peter from prison.
At the moment when Peter was knocking at the door, the intensity of prayer was actually reaching fever pitch in an effort to drown out the distraction! It took the little girl Rhoda to put an end to this delicious irony.
Hey, you’ve got to get up and open the door!
