Give us seven days

The people of Jabesh-Gilead were in a bind. If no one comes to their rescue, in seven days’ time they will all lose their right eyes. Their desperate plea for help reaches Saul’s ears and God moves him to mount a dramatic assault on the Ammonites.

Though God is sovereign and cannot be bracketed into any frame, here we find Him acting within the time-table set by the elders of Jabesh.

But God can also turn the time-table upside down!
