Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

I swear!

I don’t know how it is these days. but during my time, every second sentence in college campuses used to be embellished by the phrase “I swear”. For instance my friend M____ would aver “I swear I didn’t go to D.C. Motor class” to a group of fellow residents playing tennis ball cricket with a T-Square (these were olden days of Engineering education!) for bat in hostel corridor; their suspicion gradually gives birth to a tinge of envy as M____ triumphantly declares “I swear I saw her”.

That may be a passing phase, but the Scriptures enjoin us to refrain from swearing.

Let your “yea” be “yea” and your “nay”,”nay”
