They went their separate ways

 

Even among the best of believers there can be disagreement. And as today’s text shows it can be sharp enough sometimes to destroy the unity and divide them. In a sense this is inevitable in a free thinking society that is at liberty to air its opinion. But there is no doubt that this causes some sadness to Jesus who desired unity among His followers.

It is to the credit of the duo involved that they didn’t allow their dissent to degenerate into a dangerous lifelong separation; they allowed God to bring healing in His time.

“Do all you can to live in peace with everyone”
