What a shame, in King’s name!

We are all familiar with abuse of power. Various government functionaries frequently engage in this practice with impunity; Jezebel was the mother of all such iniquitous characters. Here we see her brazenly writing a death warrant for Naboth in king Ahab’s name.

There is a lesson here somewhere. Those of us called Christians, are we misusing the Lord’s name? Are we cursing people whom we consider enemies instead of blessing them as Jesus taught? Are we invoking divine wrath only to massage our petulance a la Elisha in the tragic case of taunting children?

Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain
