The sin of idolatry
God says quite plainly through Moses that when the children of Israel stood near the foot of Mount Sinai, they heard only the voice but saw no similitude! Therefore the Lord warns His people against corrupting themselves by making an idol in any form – man,woman,animal,birds – and forbids them to worship sun,moon or stars. That’s a pretty comprehensive list, but not exhaustive.
Indeed God is vehement in His denunciation of idol worship throughout the Bible and has some rather unkind words to describe those who practise it. Mind you, He is described as a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Hey, who are you to give form to God?
