Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice,  go ahead – save 30 seconds!

Not by sight!

Man tends to go by appearances; even prophets are not excepted – ask Samuel. He was ready to anoint the wrong man! Thankfully God is not like that. Externals mean nothing to Him. You can’t curry favour with Him by periodic shouts of “Hallelujah” and “Amen” or ready lifting of your hands. Nor does He fall for your sheep-like nodding when the pastor asks “are you happy this morning?” which he might be doing by way of filling the time; or it might be a juvenile attempt to work up a (false) fervour. He is a righteous God. He looks at your heart.

“Truth and sincerity without hypocrisy before God. Simplicity, singleness of heart, without dissembling or guile before man”

Sursum Corda!
