Blessing through any means!

 

There are many who leave no stone unturned in their quest to acquire blessings. They go from one meeting to another, pledge this and that and meticulously follow all the precepts of the prosperity preacher. But none can hold a candle to our man Jacob. Goaded by his mother, he enacts an elaborate drama complete with costumes, to fool his elderly father in a no-holds-barred effort to divert his brother Esau’s blessings to himself!

Poor Esau lost out in this game, presumably due to his lackadaisical attitude displayed towards his birthright as the first born, in a moment of weariness. Jacob got the blessing by trickery but he did have to go through enormous heartache in the matter of his son Joseph.

What do you seek, the gift or the Giver?
