Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein?

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice, go ahead – save 30 seconds!

God bless

Check the compass from time to time!

When they departed from Egypt in a great hurry, the Israelites were headed in the right direction all right. But along the way, they seem to have lost a sense of where they are going. With their final destination fading from their focus, they begin wandering around. Deuteronomy 1 tells us succinctly that to the borders of Canaan, it was but 11 days’ journey. But with all their wandering, and sporadic seemingly  meaningless meandering, the Israelites managed to make that 38 years!

While we can adduce many reasons for their up and down journey through the wilderness – including one that God wanted to spare them some early battles – the principal cause of this grossly inefficient peregrination was their lack of faith or its other name, doubt. They had a problem believing that the God who got them out of slavery can carry them through to the land of promise.

We may have started out right, but it is good to check every now and then if indeed we are on the proper path.

Quo Vadis?
