The Lord called Samuel the fourth time
The Lord is not dissuaded by our failure to respond correctly. Here we see Him coming, standing, and calling Samuel. Three times He calls and three times the boy runs to Eli. Some of us are like that. Our ears are not tuned to recognize the voice of God, so we run to men instead.
But God notes the sincerity and alacrity with which Samuel responds each time the call comes. So he gives him another chance and another and another until Eli gains an understanding of the situation. If you hear the voice of God calling you today, won’t you answer Him?
It may be your fourth and final call!
