Facing the enemy without a sword!
There is an astonishing passage in the first book of Samuel. The Philistine overlords have done away with all the blacksmiths in Israel – so thoroughly that there was none left to make a sword. The day of battle arrives and only king Saul and his son Jonathan are armed with swords. How can you engage in battle leading an unarmed army (sounds oxymoronish, what)?
The Word of God is frequently represented as a sword; practising Christians know that the enemy is prowling around, ready to swallow. The only way in which we can fight the enemy is to wield a sword. Do we know the Word of God? Do we meditate on it, use it as occassion demands, handle it aright?
Are you well equipped with a sharpened sword?
The greatness and the efficacy of the Word of God as the sword is very well conveyed
Thanks Amirtha (whoever you are!)
