Don’t tell me you have no role!

The story of David bringing the Ark of God into the city named for him is instructive for many reasons. Let’s focus on just one aspect. When the roster of work was drawn up, some were chosen to sound the bronze cymbals, some were to play the harp, some lyres and some were to blow the trumpet; initially, Berekiah and Elkanah were chosen to guard the Ark . Two other guys seem to have been left out unassigned: Obed-Edom and Jehia.

Now these two could have complained that they didn’t have a role to play in the grand celebration. Yet ,what does the Bible say? They were also to be keepers of the Ark!

If nothing else, guard the Ark!
