Longing for Egyptian onions!

It turns out that Indians are not unique in longing for Egyptians onions! The children of Israel emerging from bondage in Egypt too had a craving for that vegetable. However price was not an issue in the wilderness of Sinai! The gravy maker was simply not available in the desert. And to the short sighted, gluttonous Israelites, the absence of onions and the rest of the lot seemed an unbearable privation that even overshadowed 400 years of captivity. A touch of Stockholm Syndrome?

Those of us who are on our way to the heavenly Canaan also are not exempted from such desires for past pleasures.

What is your onion equivalent?
