The equanimity of the Hebrew trio!
This is the height of equanimity. Maintaining such composure in the face of impending death is only possible by unshakable faith and trust in YAHWEH. Quite often we put out conditions to God, saying if He should deliver us from this peril or grant us that blessing, we will be faithful to Him. But Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were made of sterner stuff. When no rescue was in sight and the furnace was blazing hot, they stuck to their faith.
How often are we ready to compromise on matters concerning our faith when we are faced with the slightest inconvenience, leave alone any talk of persecution?
They stood true!
