Samuel did not yet know the Lord !
It is intriguing that the above statement comes after the assertion that Samuel served the Lord. And how did he serve the Lord? By assisting Eli, by opening and closing the doors of the temple, by keeping the place clean – that’s it! God counts our simple acts carried out in sincerity by way of help to His people, as service rendered to Him. Think of that the next time you make yourself useful in the church by ushering in people!
Okay, Samuel did not yet know the Lord alright but the converse is not true. The Lord knew Samuel by name and called him four times repeatedly. Isn’t it wonderful that the Lord knows not only your name but your work too !
In what way are you serving the Lord?
