It’s party time!
Amos might have been a minor prophet but he could match some of the biggies, word for fulminating word. Here in the 6th chapter of his book, he comes down heavily on hedonistic life style. Though primarily addressed to the Israelites who were leading carefree, complacent lives – like there is no tomorrow – his little homily is a scathing diatribe on kindred souls everywhere for all time.
This is a severe indictment on life that wallows in the lap of luxury; life that gets carried away by the ‘here and now’ and completely shuts out any consideration of eternal values.
What will you do when the party is over?
