Do look back!

Time and again in the books of Moses, the Lord asks the Israelites to remember that they were slaves in Egypt. He says this in the context of telling them about the treatment to be accorded to foreigners and the fatherless, He says this while talking about how generous people should be in releasing bondsmen and bondswomen, and He says this while instructing the people to follow statutes.

Yes, it is important to remember our former days – when we didn’t have much to go by, when we had to work hard, when we were constantly driven and had little freedom, and were sustained by God’s sheer mercy.

Do think of people below, on your way up!
