Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein ? (click on hypertext in the Day’s Reading for reference verse)

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice, go ahead – save 30 seconds!

Like father, like children

The importance of setting the right example to children cannot be overemphasized. It is so easy to teach them the wrong things. The mobile phone makes things a little difficult but in the time of landlines, you could so easily ask your child to say, “dad has gone out” when you are sitting right there in the drawing room reading the newspaper. You could pay no attention to the traffic lights while driving with your children in the back seat. Little things like that. They all add up!

Jacob of course was no paragon of virtue. He was well tutored in the game of chicanery by his beloved mother. And he really shouldn’t have been upset when his sons took a leaf from his book.

What is your legacy?
