Ain’t I the cat’s whiskers?

Pride is a deadly sin. The scripture goes so far as to say “God opposes the proud”; yet this is one sin that “so easily entangles us”. Nebuchadnezzar was talking only to himself when he exclaimed “is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”. We know what happened to him. And when Herod spoke, the people shouted saying , “this is the voice of a god, not of a man.” Herod lapped it up failing to give glory to God, and he was struck dead.

Peter took a few steps on water and I imagine he put up his collar and turned around and gesticulated triumphantly to all those faithless creatures still inside the boat. That’s when he noticed that the wind was boisterous.

“Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord..”
