Even as you hit the fast lane of life with furious strides that brook no brakes, won’t you pause a moment to grab a grain of scriptural truth embedded herein?

No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice, go ahead – save 30 seconds!

God bless

Oh how foolish, Saul!

Samuel didn’t show up at the appointed hour at Gilgal; King Saul was losing his patience by the second. He looks this way and that but there is no sign of Samuel. In the meanwhile, Saul’s army was fast disappearing. Frustration mounting, Saul decides to go ahead with sacrifices himself. Presently Samuel arrives on the scene and duly reprimands Saul.

Wherein did Saul offend? What was the mistake he made ? He did not wait for the prophet as he should  have done. He did not seek God’s guidance. In offering sacrifices himself, he took matters into his own hands. He lacked trust and exceeded his brief; he dabbled in issues beyond his purview.

Let us not get carried away by our own sense of importance whatever office we may hold!
