I ain’t no prophet!
As in most pursuits, even in the business of prophesying one can be either a professional or an amateur. Amos starts of like a veteran prophet pronouncing God’s judgments against Damascus, Gaza, Philistia,Tyre, Phoenicia, Edom, Ammon, Moab, Judah and Israel. He goes into oracles and visions, thunders against formalism in religion and cries woe against the self-indulgent and their false sense of security. All this becomes a little too much for Amaziah the priest of Bethel who complains to Jeroboam, king of Israel.
And he also tells Amos to stop prophesying against Israel and go back to Judah where he came from. Amos protests.
You may be whatever, but what is God asking you to do?
