His eye is on the sparrow!
It was Civilla D. Martin who wrote the beautiful gospel hymn with the above title, inspired no doubt by the several references in the Bible to birds in general and sparrows in particular. He draws the conclusion that ‘God watches me’. What a comforting thought! And it is true! In the book of Ezrah we read about Tattenai, governor of Trans-Euphrates objecting to the rebuilding and restoration of the temple of God.
In this context we read the most encouraging words, that God was watching over the builders! When you are doing God’s work, you can be sure that God is watching over you.
Are you doing God’s work? Take heart, He protects!
Yes indeed It’s a beautiful gospel hymn that reminds us that He who cares for the sparrows watches over us -He who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps -His love & protection over us at all times
