Jitters within, bluff without!

 

If you look closely, you might find reason to critique him, but there is no taking away from the fact that Ezra was at least honest. With a mix of faith and bravado, he informs King Artaxerxes of Babylon that “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him……..” Afterwards our man develops cold feet; he admits that he was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect the returnees, from enemies on the road.

S0,when he actually gathers them together and is all set for the journey to Jerusalem, his faith needs to be bolstered by community fasting and praying.

You need to pray hard if you’ve boasted in faith!
