Rabbi, I want to see!
We need to thank blind Bartimaeus for this prayer. Short, simple, specific. The guy who was crying himself hoarse with the words “Son of David, have mercy on me!” when sitting by the road side, goes all subdued when actually brought to Jesus. In saying “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus offers him a carte blanche; but rather than produce a laundry list of things he could have desired, our man asked for the one thing he needed most: sight!
How about us? Do we want to see Jesus and get to know Him or are we merely looking for things He can give?
Are our spiritual eyes open?
