Out came the calf!

A…ah! This is rich. Simplistic and disingenuous. When questioned by Moses as to how he could mislead the people into sin, Aaron gives a perfidious reply. Yes, it is the same guy who weeks ago, stood in front of the Pharaoh along with Moses and resonated God’s call: “Let my people go”. Moses disappears for a while and Aaron is quick to fashion a golden calf with a tool; the fickle people declare “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

I suspect it was leadership ambition which drove Aaron out of his mind. The adulation of the crowd, their sacrifices on the altar he built, and their pagan gambol – oh, he got carried away!

What’s steering you into sin?
