No obligations! You are of course perfectly at liberty to skip these Readings altogether. Should that be your choice, go ahead – save 30 seconds!

Keynote address: Simon Peter!
No, Peter was not a listed speaker. In fact he was not a speaker at all. The longest he had ever spoken before was about 30 words on the Mount of Transfiguration where he was not quite himself. The largest audience he ever had before was probably 12. Now, here on the Day of Pentecost our man rises up with the eleven, raises his voice and addresses a multilingual crowd.
The difference? Enabling by the Holy Spirit. No advance notice, no preparation, no teleprompter – a comprehensive, convincing, convicting 500 word long extempore speech about Jesus Christ! No fewer than 3000 people turned their lives around!
Are you empowered?
So, true!
Peter could do that because his experience was quite rich and addressing a big crowd just meant articulating verbally his personal journey with Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit. The problem is that so much of what we hear today are empty words!
I am slowly, but surely able to understand the power of The Holy Spirit, and it is a humbling experience.
Thanks Judah for the reminder about Peter.
Thank you for your encouraging notes, Pramod
