No law, no prophets
It is a terrible situation indeed when the Lord unloads His anger on Israel because of the nation’s sin. Among the many desolations that would befall the country, one of the saddest is perhaps the failure of law and the loss of prophetic vision. That would mean the complete collapse of any framework of order. Chaos and confusion. Murder and mayhem.
While the prophecy here mainly concerns the nation of Israel, the Word is given to us as a warning. If we don’t take it to heart, we will be miserable indeed.
Don’t ignore the red light!
