If You’d been here …..
The sisters did their part right. Their brother Lazarus was sick and they sent word to Jesus. For good measure they reminded Jesus that He loved Lazarus! And according to the narrative, there was no delay in the delivery of the message; it reached Jesus on time. But His response was strange. The biblical account makes it clear that Jesus waited for Lazarus to die!
Martha gently chided Jesus: “If You’d been here, my brother would not have died”. She didn’t want to be too harsh with Jesus, though what she actually had in mind was, “If only you’d come when we called You”. Well, we know how the story ended.
Once you have approached Jesus, leave the matter to Him.
