Whose will will win?
As Jonah takes off in a direction exactly opposite to where God wanted him to go, everything seems to work in his favour. At Joppa he finds a ship sailing to Tarshish, he has money to pay for the ticket, he climbs aboard the vessel and promptly goes to sleep. So far, so good. His plan to escape from the Lord is working perfectly. Hunky dory!
Meanwhile God is watching His prophet’s shenanigans with dismay, displeasure and disapproval. He lets him go and then steps in. To be sure His hand is not shortened. He sends out a great wind on the sea and Jonah’s willful voyage to Tarshish comes to an abrupt end!
Quo vadis Jonah?
Jonah was overshadowed by the fear of taking the word of God to enemy country. His fears would have been allayed had he trusted God.
Despite his life being saved by fish seny by God, he did not want Nineveh people to survive .
Thanks for your pointed observations
