Ahithophel or Hushai? Matters little; God is in control!

When Absalom arrived in Jerusalem with all the army of Israel, after David and his company fled from the city, Ahithophel advises him to have sex in the open with his father’s concubines; this was in order  to convey the message to the people that Absalom has insulted his father beyond hope of reconciliation. Absalom heeds this advice,  but in the next instance he discards Ahithophel’s advice  in favour of the elaborate plan suggested by Hushai, David’s friend.

The Bible says that the Lord had determined to defeat the counsel of Ahithophel which was really the better plan, so that He could bring disaster on Absalom.

God can nullify the best laid plans in order to protect His children!
