And Asaph sounded the cymbals !
This is rich. Asaph the leader of the orchestra appointed by David is content to sound the cymbals while others blow the trumpet and play the harps and lyres. Though he was the chief musician with several of David’s psalms passing through his hands and 12 psalms to his own credit, Asaph does not crave glory or glamour.
Yet he is performing the very important function of keeping the timing, unobtrusively.
He sets the tempo!
