Get a move on, you Israelites!

The Lord God speaking through Moses tells the Israelites that they have stayed at this mountain long enough. It is time to break camp and move on. “Go to the hill country, wilderness of Negev, the coastal plain and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

In the many years of stay at Mount Sinai, the Israelites no doubt formed habits, created customs and established traditions. They were getting a little too comfortable with their way of life there and were losing sight of their final destination. There are miles to go, battles to join, experiences to savour and nations to overcome, before you possess the promised land.

Don’t be enamoured of the journey or the way-side stations, howsoever attractive they may be.

Move on towards your final goal.
